33 cows killed as herder goes missing in Adamawa

 

Tension has gripped Shelleng Local Government Area of Adamawa State following the killing of 33 cows, the disappearance of 18 others, and the reported missing of a herder.

The missing herder has been identified as Manu Mamuda.

The spokesman for the Adamawa State Police Command, Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the development in an exclusive interview with PUNCH Online on Tuesday, saying the incident occurred in the Kiri area of the council.

“Police have been deployed to the area to control the situation.

“As I’m talking to you, officers are already on the ground to ensure the situation does not escalate and the perpetrators are arrested,” Nguroje said.

According to a local source who spoke to PUNCH Online on condition of anonymity, Mamuda had gone out to graze but failed to return.

“When his people went to search for him, they discovered 33 cows killed and 18 missing.

“Mamuda’s cap was found on the ground with blood stains and some gun cartridges,” the source said.
