The Chairman of Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area, Dr. Eric Odo, called for a deeper reflection on the virtues of love, unity, forgiveness, and compassion as embodied in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
In an Easter message released on Saturday in Enugu, Odo emphasized the significance of the season as a time for spiritual renewal and communal harmony.
He described Easter as a solemn period that underscores the transformative power of sacrifice and the enduring hope of new beginnings.
“Easter calls on us to internalize and demonstrate the virtues exemplified by our Lord Jesus Christ—chief among them being love, unity, forgiveness, and compassion,” he stated.
The chairman further encouraged Nigerians to practice these values in their daily lives by promoting peace in their homes, extending goodwill to their neighbours, and working together in the spirit of shared responsibility for the development of Igbo-Etiti.
Odo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to enhancing the welfare of the people through targeted developmental initiatives.
He highlighted several strategic programmes implemented by his administration, particularly in the agricultural sector, aimed at empowering the youth and fostering economic self-reliance.
“These initiatives are part of a broader agenda to combat poverty and promote sustainable development across the local government area.
“I urge residents to take full advantage of the opportunities provided by the local government, in order to become self-reliant,” he adviced.
The Chairman also expressed confidence in the collective capacity of the people to advance the progress of the local government through unity of purpose and active civic engagement.
