EEDC Announces Emergency Load Management in Enugu, Anambra, Ebonyi

The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) has announced the implementation of emergency load management across parts of its network following a fault on the Mando–Shiroro Transmission line.

In a public notice issued on February 12, 2026, the company said the development has necessitated a reduction in power allocation as directed by the National Control Centre (NCC), Oshogbo.
According to the notice, EEDC has been advised to maintain only 44 megawatts on the Onitsha/New Haven 330kV line, affecting Awada, Agu-Awka, Nibo, New Haven, Nkalagu and Abakaliki Transmission Stations.

In addition, the Ugwuaji and Apir Transmission Stations have been allocated 10 megawatts and 11 megawatts respectively.

The company stated that customers served by its subsidiary companies—MainPower, FirstPower and Eastland—in Enugu, Anambra and Ebonyi states will be impacted by the reduced power supply.

EEDC apologised for the inconvenience the situation may cause, assuring customers that relevant stakeholders are working to clear the fault and restore normal electricity supply.

The notice was signed by the Group Head, Corporate Communications, EEDC, Emeka Ezeh.
