Political stakeholders in Isi-Uzo Local Government Area say there is a growing consensus for Governor Peter Mbah to seek a second term in office.
According to them, the Governor’s performance and recent political moves have united opinions across party lines.
The Chairman of Isi-Uzo Local Government Council, Hon. Obiora Obeagu, says the increased unity of purpose behind Governor Peter Mbah’s second-term bid stems from what he describes as unprecedented social, infrastructural, and political transformation across the state.
Speaking at the council headquarters in Ikem during the inauguration of the Isi-Uzo Local Government and ward executives of the Enugu State Unity Forum — a group championing support for the Governor — Obeagu noted that Governor Mbah’s recent alignment with the All Progressives Congress at the national level has further strengthened the state’s access to federal opportunities.
He highlighted key projects executed by the administration in Isi-Uzo to include; 11 Smart Schools, 12 Type-2 Health Centres, the 21.7-kilometre Agape–Ogbette Farm Settlement Road, upgrades on the Eha-Amufu access roads, the ongoing development of a Farm Estate, and the massive 40-kilometre Owo–Umualor–Ikem dual carriageway project.
Obeagu urged the newly inaugurated EUF executives to approach their roles with dedication, promising them full support and commending the Forum’s leadership for promoting peace, unity, and progressive governance.
Inaugurating the officials, the Enugu East Zonal Coordinator of the Forum, Dr. Chukwuemeka Nwatu, outlined the group’s core responsibilities and emphasized that the selected executives must return to their various wards to deepen public awareness about the Governor’s achievements.
Other EUF leaders from Enugu West and Enugu North, Arc. Jake Udeh and Prof. Ikpe Ibenekwu, praised the pace of infrastructural development across the state.
They also described Governor Mbah’s recent appointment by the Federal Government as Chairman of the Committee on the Overhaul of Security Training Institutions as a recognition of his leadership qualities.
Speakers at the event, including women leaders, government appointees, encouraged residents to sustain their support for the administration and to ensure they obtain their Permanent Voter Cards.
The APC Caretaker Committee Chairman in Isi-Uzo, Hon. Jacob Abonyi, pledged the party’s cooperation with the Enugu State Unity Forum, while the EUF Coordinator in the LGA, Prof. Ifeanyi Odoziobodo, charged the new executives to justify the confidence reposed in them.
The newly inaugurated executives are expected to begin grassroots mobilization as preparations for 2027 political activities gradually take shape in the state.
