Enugu CP tasks 195 new Constables on professionalism, integrity

The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has officially received 195 newly recruited Police Constables posted to the Command after completing their training at the Police College, Oji River.

Receiving the recruits at the State Police Headquarters, Enugu, CP Giwa congratulated them on successfully completing their basic training and reminded them that their enlistment into the Nigeria Police Force was a call to national service and a rare opportunity to make positive contributions to society.

He charged the young officers to uphold professionalism and integrity in the discharge of their duties, warning them against extortion, corruption, and misuse of the police uniform.
The Commissioner stressed that any officer found engaging in unprofessional conduct would face decisive disciplinary action.

According to CP Giwa, the new constables, alongside their colleagues recruited earlier, will undergo a short but intensive tactical and operational training programme after their post-College leave.

The training, he said, is designed to sharpen their combat and field skills, as well as strengthen their operational capacity in crime prevention and control.

The 195 newly recruited officers—comprising 124 males and 71 females—are among a total of 379 constables drawn from the five South-East states of Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo.

They were trained for six months at the Police College, Oji River, and passed out on October 7, 2025, under the supervision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, the Command reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the new officers and ensuring that their deployment across the state enhances community safety and policing efficiency.
