The Honourable Commissioner Enugu State Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Prof Sam C. Ugwu, has commended members of Enugu State Clean Team Project for their meaningful contributions to the cleanliness of Enugu State.
The Commissioner made the commendation during a meeting with the Members of the Enugu State Clean Team, their Coordinator and supervisors at the state Sectariate Complex.
The Commissioner explained that the State Governor Dr Peter Ndubuisi Mba in his fatherly care has solved some challenges Clean Team Members face in the course of their job which contributed to their low performance in the past , ranging from molestation and insufficient monthly allowance.
Prof.Ugwu announced to them that the Governor has graciously approved and implemented a new allowance to them from Thirty thousand naira to Fifty thousand naira monthly. He also announced adjustment in the commencement time for their daily work due to some security reasons.He said they should rather start work by 5.30am when the security agents will be on the streets .
Speaking further, the Commissioner said that the Ministry during supervisions had noticed some lazy ones among them who do not take their work seriously, he enjoined their supervisors to rise up to their challenges and fish out those lazy ones as they will be replaced without wasting time.
In a vote of thanks , The Coordinator Enugu State Clean Team Project Rev Fr.Michael Amobi Ogbu applauded His Excellency the Governor for positively responding to their plea and as well appreciated the Hon Commissioner for his listening ear and quick response to their plight.
Rev Fr. Ogbu further prayed God to grant them wisdom and strength to pilot the affairs of this state.
The Priest promised that they will put in more efforts to make the Environment cleaner and safer for visitors and inhabitants.
In their separate speeches during interview, two clean team members , Odiaka Obianuju and Obasi Francis Chijioke expressed that their joy knows no bounds and thanked the State government for the allowance increment and promised to be more serious in their work because to whom much is given , much is expected.
