The Enugu State Government has announced restriction of movement following the conduct of rerun elections in Enugu South Urban State Constituency and Igboeze North/Udenu Federal Constituency on Saturday, February 3, 2024.

The Secretary to the State Government, Professor Chidi Onyia said the move is to ensure orderly and hitch-free elections.

Professor Onyia said there will be no vehicular movement on the roads and or any form of transportation in the affected LGAs from 12 midnight to 6pm on Saturday, February 3, with the exception of persons on election or essential services such as INEC Officials and Election Observers as well as health workers, ambulances and firefighters on emergency duties.

While regretting the temporary inconveniences, he enjoined the citizens to adhere to the directive for the free, fair, credible, orderly, secure, and peaceful conduct of the elections.

He disclosed that security agencies have been briefed and are to ensure the enforcement of the order, while all security agents not formerly posted to election duties by their respective agencies are barred from the vicinity of the election venues.
