According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Daniel Ndukwe, the operation was carried out by officers attached to Unity Division on October 13, 2025, at about 2:10 p.m., following a credible security tip-off.
The suspects, identified as Ernest Oshi (51 years), Ukpai Ifeanyi (36 years), and Ogbuzulu David (32 years), were apprehended in connection with the stolen vehicle, which had been taken from where it was parked in Otukpo on June 29, 2025.
Preliminary investigations, according to the police, revealed that Ernest Oshi purchased the vehicle from a mechanic Ukpai Ifeanyi, who had earlier bought it from a car dealer Ogbuzulu David.
The suspects reportedly confessed their varying degrees of involvement as investigations continue.
SP Ndukwe further disclosed that both the recovered vehicle and the suspects have been handed over to the Benue State Police Command, which has jurisdiction over the original theft, for further investigation and prosecution.
He assured that the Enugu State Police Command remains committed to collaborating with other commands to combat vehicle theft and other criminal activities across the country.
