Enugu Police Raid Drug Hideout, Arrest Suspect

….Recover Cannabis Variants


Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command have arrested a 43-year-old man, Elias Ukachukwu Agu, following a successful raid on a suspected drug hideout at Amaowere-Nike, Enugu.

According to a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Daniel Ndukwe, the operation was carried out on September 19, 2025, around 7:00 a.m., by officers of Unity Division in collaboration with Forest Guards.

The raid according to Ndukwe is targeted a notorious container shop allegedly used for the sale of illicit drugs.

Items recovered from the scene include 14 cups and 25 sachets of a substance suspected to be Canadian Loud (popularly called “Loud”), six sachets of a substance suspected to be Colorado (“Colos”), both variants of cannabis, as well as a weed crusher and two packets of Rizla.

Ndukwe said the suspect confessed to being involved in the sale of the banned substances and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, urged members of the public, especially youths, to desist from the sale, purchase, or use of illicit drugs.

He reiterated the Command’s commitment to eradicating crime and criminality in Enugu State and called for residents’ continued cooperation and support.
