Enugu Police Recover Truck Snatched in Delta, Launch Manhunt for Suspects

The Enugu State Police Command has recovered a truck reportedly snatched at gunpoint in Delta State, following a swift intelligence-led operation by its operatives.

According to a press release issued on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Daniel Ndukwe, operatives attached to the Awgu Division recovered a Sinotruk truck in the early hours of January 31, 2026, along Ndeagbor Road in Awgu community, Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State.

The statement explained that the recovery followed actionable intelligence indicating that the truck had been forcefully taken from its driver at Ugwuashi-Uku in Delta State on January 29, 2026. Upon sighting the police operatives, the suspected criminals reportedly abandoned the vehicle and escaped into a nearby forest.

Police sources said efforts were ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects, while the owner of the recovered truck has been identified. Investigations into the incident have also commenced.

Commending the efforts of the operatives, the Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, psc, urged members of the public, particularly vehicle owners, to promptly report cases of crimes against property to the Police.

He further reassured residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property across Enugu State.
