ENUGU — Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command have recovered a MAN Diesel truck stolen earlier on Monday from Benin City, Edo State.
According to a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, the vehicle, reportedly stolen around 12:05 a.m. on October 27, 2025, was recovered at about 6:30 a.m. the same day by police operatives attached to Ozalla Division and the Distress Response Squad (DRS).
The recovery took place at Ozalla in Nkanu West Local Government Area, along the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway, following a swift response to distress information received from the Command’s Control Room.
“On sighting the operatives, the hoodlums abandoned the truck and fled into the bush,” Ndukwe said, adding that efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects.
The recovered truck has since been secured for further investigation.
Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, commended the operatives for their prompt and coordinated response, describing it as a testament to the Command’s proactive policing strategy.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or criminal activities to the nearest police station or through the Command’s hotlines — 08032003702, 08086671202 — and the State Command-and-Control Centre via 112, 09134666668, or 09134448093.
The Commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to maintaining public safety and tackling interstate criminal activities across Enugu and its neighbouring states.
