ENUGU POLICE RESCUE KIDNAP VICTIM, RECOVER VEHICLE,FIREARM

Operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Tactical Squad of the Enugu State Police Command have rescued a kidnapped man and recovered his vehicle, a Lexus 350 SUV, along with a locally fabricated pistol and three live ammunition.

The rescue operation took place at about 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at the Ozalla/Umueze axis of Nkanu West Local Government Area. The items were said to have been abandoned by the fleeing suspects.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, the operatives responded swiftly to a distress call reporting the abduction of the victim within the Awkunanaw area of Enugu. The officers reportedly chased the suspects to the Ozalla/Umueze area, where they escaped, leaving behind the victim and the recovered exhibits.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, commended the operatives for their quick and professional intervention, describing the operation as a testament to the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property.

He assured residents that the police will sustain their onslaught against criminals and urged members of the public to remain law-abiding while providing credible information to aid ongoing investigations and the manhunt for the fleeing suspects.
