The Executive Chairman of Enugu South Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. Dr. Caleb Ani, has been commended for his remarkable achievements and transformative governance within just one year in office.
The Special Adviser on Political Matters to the Chairman, Hon. Prince Chijioke Agbo in a goodwill message on the occasion of the Chairman’s one year in office lauded Ani’s administration for what he described as “sharply-focused and visionary leadership” that has brought tangible development to communities across Enugu South.
Highlighting the milestones recorded within the period, Agbo pointed to Ani’s efforts in improving power supply through the donation of two brand-new 500 KVA transformers to Akwuke and Amechi Uno communities, which have boosted both household comfort and business productivity.
He also praised the Chairman for enhancing security and nightlife by installing more than 3,000 solar-powered streetlights in Amechi Awkunanaw, Amechi Uno, Ugwuaji, Uwani, and Obeagu Awkunanaw, transforming neighborhoods into safer and more vibrant areas.
He described youth empowerment, another cornerstone of Ani’s administration as a “forward-looking initiative.”
According to the SPA, over 2,000 young people have been trained in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and entrepreneurial skills, with each graduate receiving start-up support to promote self-reliance and innovation.
On infrastructure, Ani’s government was credited with the construction of a two-kilometre asphalted road with dual drainage at Ugwuagba, Amechi-Uno, as well as new link roads and culverts that have improved access between communities, eased transportation, and boosted local commerce.
The message also noted Ani’s commitment to efficient governance, citing the refurbishment of the Enugu South Local Government Secretariat with modern facilities and the renovation of the Legislative Chambers with ICT-enabled equipment to enhance administrative and legislative performance.
“Hon. Caleb Ani’s leadership is a shining example of what true public service should be — relentless, inclusive, and impactful,” Agbo said, expressing optimism that the chairman’s transformative agenda would continue to propel Enugu South to greater heights.
