ENUGU State govt flags off polio vaccination

The Enugu State Government says it will continue to priorities education and health of the children in the state.

ENUGU State governor Dr Peter Mbah represented by the state commissioner for health Dr Ikechukwu Obi stated this while flagging off national immunization days on out break response 2, OBR 2 on Friday in the State.

flagging off the exercise at Abakpa Nike health center, The governor who said that for development to thrive in any society, that the future of the children must be secured through proper immunization of the children.

According to him, every vaccine rolled out for children is properly checked and certified by relevant agencies involved to ensure they are safe.
the governor who commended the stakeholders for their co-operation and support to ensure the success of the exercise, however enjoined those trained for the exercise to ensure they carry out the duties effectively.

The Enugu State executive secretary , Dr. ifenyinwa Ani osheku in a welcome address noted that the exercise will take place from Saturday, November 11 to Tuesday, November 14 2023, and it is open for children between 0-5 years of age.
The Health practitioner whoreminded people that polio is a deadly disease that must be eradicated in the society called on stakeholders to join hand with health officers to fight against polio.

According to her, trained health workers will visit homes, schools, churches , mosques, market places and everywhere children of under five are found to administer novel oral polio vaccine, nopv.
in a good will messages, the development partners including National primary healthcare development agency, UNICEF, rotary international among others commended the state government in it’s efforts to eradicate polio in the state

Recall, a variant polio case was detected in Ozalla Ward in Nkanu West local government area earlier this year.
