The Kebbi State Police Command has disclosed that it has arrested eleven suspects linked to the alleged impregnation of a 13-year-old girl of unsound mind in Shanga Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, who confirmed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi, disclosed that other suspects have fled and the command is tracking them to bring them to justice.
According to him, “In its determination to rid Kebbi State of all forms of gender-based violence, the Divisional Police Officer, Shanga, had on Saturday, July 13, 2025, acting on credible intelligence, arrested 11 suspects, namely: Ibrahim Bakanike, Danladi Nauyi, Danjuma Meli, Ibrahim Dankura, Ibrahim Isiaka, Masta Maishayi, Bello Muhammad, Danjuma Kodo, Aminu Isah, Zayyanu Isah, and Ahmed Usman, all male, of Tungar Giwa village, Shanga LGA of Kebbi State.
“The suspects took advantage of one Sa’ima Dauda, female, aged 13 years, who wandered around the village due to an unsound mind, by giving her money ranging from N200 to N500, luring her several times to different locations and having sexual intercourse with her, which resulted in pregnancy, and she safely delivered a baby boy on Tuesday, July 8, 2025.
“During the preliminary investigation, all the suspects arrested in connection with the case have confessed to the commission of the crime.
“Consequently, the Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello M. Sani, has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department, to intensify efforts in arresting the remaining three fleeing suspects and ensure a diligent investigation.
“The CP equally reiterated the Command’s commitment to ensuring justice for the victims and speedy investigation of gender-based violence cases in the State,” he said.
