Enugu will on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, honour the life and legacy of the late football legend, Christian Chukwu, with a Night of Tributes at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Enugu.
The event, scheduled to run from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., will bring together family, friends, football administrators, former teammates, and fans to celebrate the achievements and enduring impact of the former Super Eagles captain and coach.
Christian Chukwu, fondly called ‘Chairman’, was widely respected for his leadership on and off the pitch, and his contributions to Nigerian football spanned decades.
He died on April 12, 2025 at the age of 74.
Recall that the Enugu State government and the family of Late Christian ‘Chairman’ Chukwu last month announced the commencement of the final burial ceremonies of the Ex-International.
The burial ceremony began 10th August 2025 with a Service of Songs at St Andrew Anglican Church.
There would be a Colloquium on 14th August 2025 at Enugu Sports Club and a novelty match at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu on 15th August 2025 at 4pm Prompt and followed by a Christian Wake-keep at his country home, Obe, Nkanu West LGA at 9pm Prompt.
Meanwhile, the lying-in-State/Burial Ceremony will be held at his country home, Obe, Nkanu West LGA, at 9am on 16th August 2025 and a Thanksgiving Service at St. Philips Anglican Church, Obe, Nkanu West LGA, at 9am the following day.
