NIS warns Nigerians against fake recruitment post

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has warned the public about a circulating Facebook post falsely claiming that the NIS is recruiting.

This is coming at a time when fake recruitment posts are common on social media and often trick unsuspecting applicants into sharing personal information or paying fraudulent fees.

The Service clarified that no recruitment is currently ongoing, maintaining that the only legitimate recruitment process is the recent exercise conducted by the Civil Defence, Corrections, Fire and Immigration Board (CDCFIB), whose results are still being awaited.

According to a post obtained from NIS’ X handle on Wednesday, the service said, “The public is advised to ignore such posts, avoid engaging with them, and report the pages immediately. NIS reiterates its commitment to ensuring transparency and integrity in all official recruitment exercises.”

The Nigeria Immigration Service is a federal agency responsible for managing the country’s immigration affairs, including border control, visa issuance, and enforcement of immigration laws. Like many government agencies, NIS occasionally conducts recruitment exercises for new personnel.
