The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 43-year-old man named Rabiu Usman for defiling a minor.

In a press statement issued on Friday by the command’s spokesman Chief Superintendent of Police, Suleiman Ngoruje, said that Usman was arrested for defiling an 11-year-old minor in Timdore District, Ganye Local Government Area of the state.

“The arrest follows a referral from the Chief Magistrate Court, Ganye, based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s mother.

“That, on 16th February 2025, the victim, while attending a wedding ceremony in Timdore village, went to a nearby house to drink water. Unfortunately, the suspect forcefully dragged her to the rear side of the compound and had unlawful carnal knowledge of her,” he stated.

He stated that the victim was taken to a medical facility in Ganye for medical examination and treatment.

On his part, the Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, strongly condemned the act and directed the Officer in Charge of the Family Support Unit of the Command to take over the investigation and ensure a diligent prosecution of the suspect.

He added that Adamawa State Police Command remains resolute in its fight against all forms of sexual abuse and gender-based violence.

The commissioner urged parents and guardians to closely monitor their children and report to the Police especially those with questionable characters.
