POLICE ARREST ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT IN ENUGU, RECOVER LOADED FIREARM

The Enugu State Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has reiterated his commitment to sustaining the Command’s ongoing crackdown on criminals across the state, particularly those involved in violent crimes such as armed robbery.

This reassurance followed the arrest of one Chinweuba Edeh, aged 42, for allegedly robbing a Point of Sale (POS) operator of the sum of ₦70,000 at gunpoint.

The incident reportedly occurred at about 6:40 a.m. on October 17, 2025, at Oriemba Akpugo Market, in Nkanu West Local Government Area.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, operatives attached to the Nkanu West (Agbani) Police Division swiftly responded to a distress call from the female victim, leading to the suspect’s arrest the same day.

During the operation, the police recovered a locally made double-barrelled pistol loaded with two live cartridges from the suspect. The Command confirmed that Edeh will be charged to court once investigations are concluded.

CP Giwa commended the operatives for their quick response and assured residents that the Command will not relent in its efforts to rid Enugu State of criminal elements.

He also called on citizens to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and to promptly report any suspicious activities to the police. Members of the public can reach the Command through its emergency hotlines 08032003702 or 08086671202, as well as the Command-and-Control Centre numbers 112, 09134666668, and 09134448093.
