Police arrest two in Kano for robbing Lil Kesh in Lagos

The Kano State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the alleged robbery and attempted murder of Afrobeat artiste, Lil Kesh, in Lagos State, during which he was robbed of over N2m.

This follows social media speculation that the artiste had been attacked in Lagos in August after a blurry photo of him went viral, sparking concerns about the ex-YBNL signee’s safety.

On Saturday, the command’s Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Haruna, confirmed the arrest in a statement, saying the suspects attacked the artiste and inflicted a deep cut on his neck.

“The Kano State Police Command has achieved a significant breakthrough in a recent case of armed robbery and attempted murder, thanks to its robust intelligence and community collaboration.

“On September 11, 2025, the command’s tactical operatives, acting on intelligence, arrested two suspects at Na’ibawa Quarters, Kano. They are: Mathew Adewole, 25, of Na’ibawa Quarters, and Mukhtar Muhammad, 31, of Unguwa Uku Quarters, Kano,” Haruna said.

He explained that during interrogation, “Adewole confessed to attacking Lil Kesh, a resident of Bera Estate, Chevron, Lagos State, on August 19, 2025.

“The attack left the victim with serious injuries, including a deep cut on the neck.

“The suspect forced the victim to transfer N2,120,000 from his account via mobile phone to Mukhtar Muhammad’s account,” Haruna added.

He noted that in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, the command had been working tirelessly to enhance its intelligence capacity, leveraging community policing and strategic partnerships to stay ahead of criminal elements.

The police spokesman further disclosed that the suspects had been handed over to the Lagos State Police Command for further investigation and prosecution.

Kano State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, commended the operatives for their diligence, the public for their cooperation, and assured continued efforts to ensure safety and security in the state.

“The command remains committed to maintaining law and order, working closely with other security agencies and stakeholders to ensure a coordinated approach to combating crime,” the statement added.
