Rangers U-17 Team Hit Lagos for FC Bayern Youth Tournament

In a landmark development for youth football in Nigeria, Rangers International Football Club U-17 team has departed Enugu for Lagos to participate in the FC Bayern Youth Cup Nigeria 2025 National Final, scheduled to take place from June 20 to 21, 2025.

Organized by FC Bayern Munich in partnership with the VOE Foundation and supported by Audi, the FC Bayern Youth Cup is one of the most prestigious global youth football initiatives aimed at offering outstanding young talents a pathway to elite football opportunities.

This year, top youth teams from across the country will compete for a chance to represent Nigeria at the World Finals in Germany.

The inclusion of Rangers U-17 in this elite tournament reflects the growing reputation of the club’s youth development programme under the transformative leadership of Amobi Ezeaku, General Manager and CEO of Rangers International FC.

Since taking office, Ezeaku has championed a strategic and professionalised approach to talent development, with initiatives such as the Rangers Academicals, community scouting projects, curtain-raiser youth fixtures before NPFL matches, and mentorship-driven coaching structures.

“This invitation and our participation is a reflection of the hard work put into repositioning Rangers as a hub for football excellence, not just at the senior level, but from the grassroots. We’re proud of our young team and confident they will do Enugu, Nigeria, and the Rangers badge proud,” said Ezeaku.

The club’s participation adds momentum to the broader vision of ensuring Rangers International FC becomes a model of youth development in African football. With the players now en route to Lagos, anticipation is high as the young Flying Antelopes prepare to showcase their skills on a national stage, with eyes firmly set on a spot in Germany.
