The family of Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai has announced the passing of the revered Christian leader and founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association. According to the family, the renowned evangelist was called to glory on October 6, 2025, at the age of 80.
In a statement titled “Glorious Transition,” the family described Dr. Ukpai as “a faithful soldier of the cross” who dedicated over six decades of his life to “fiery evangelism, dynamic teaching of the Word, and prophetic demonstrations of the power of God.”
The statement noted that his ministry touched millions of lives across Nigeria and beyond, leaving an indelible mark on the Christian faith.
“He was a spiritual general known for evangelism, a founding father of faith, loving husband, devoted father, and mentor to many. His life was a testament to God’s power and love,” the family said.
While expressing sadness over his passing, the family added that they rejoice in the assurance that he has “finished his race and is now resting in eternal praise.”
Details of the funeral arrangements, according to the statement, will be announced in due course.
Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, one of Nigeria’s foremost evangelists, was widely respected for his nationwide crusades and commitment to spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ.
The family concluded the announcement with a scriptural reflection from Philippians 1:21: “For indeed, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”
