The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company Plc (EEDC) has confirmed a widespread power outage affecting parts of Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo states following a loss of supply from its source of power.
In a press statement issued on Tuesday and signed by the Group Head, Corporate Communications, Emeka Ezeh, EEDC disclosed that the loss of supply occurred at about 10:48 a.m., resulting in the blackout currently being experienced by electricity customers in the affected states.
The outage cuts across areas served by the company’s subsidiary firms—MainPower, TransPower, FirstPower, NewEra and EastLand.
The distribution company said the exact cause of the supply loss was yet to be determined as of the time of the statement.
It, however, assured customers that efforts were underway to identify and resolve the issue.
EEDC added that it is actively liaising with relevant stakeholders to ensure the prompt restoration of electricity supply to all affected areas.
The company appealed to customers for patience and understanding, while apologising for the inconvenience caused by the outage.
