WOSCONET partners IMT to empower Enugu women

A non-governmental organisation, Women Support Women Community Network, (WOSCONET), has indicated interest to partner with the Institute of Management and Technology(IMT), Enugu to empower women and girls with skills, using facilities in the institution.

The organization dropped the hint weekend when members of the group paid sensitisation and familiarisation visit to the management of the institution.

Speaking at the occasion,  president of WOSCONET, Amaka Nweke, stated  that the aim of the organization is to empower women and girls to acquire different skills to be useful citizens.

Nweke, represented by the deputy director, Ezeaku Patience Nnenna, said that already the organisation has empowered over 210 women on Cake, Soap, Phone appliances, fashion and design among others.

She said that they were at IMT as a member of the enterpreneurship schools, to see if the facilities  of the school could be exposed to women and girls, especially in skilled manpower.

She said that paid jobs are hard to come by nowadays and that even when employments are secured, the pay is not encouraging.

“Jobs are hard to come by these days, so it will be nice so that the graduates learn skills that will make them employable and at the same time become employers of labour”, she said

Nweke pointed out that women should be made to bring out what is embedded in them  to face the challenges of life.

She said that they could partner with IMT to ensure that the equipment in the entrepreneurship school are utilised optimally by the students and the school management.

Responding, the IMT Rector, Prof. Austin Nweze said that he appreciated their coming and their thoughtfulness to partner with them for women to acquire skills.

Nweze however asked them  to do a proposal on the format for the partnership to enable his team give it a deep thought.
