The Nigerian Army says it has killed 15 terrorists, arrested 42 suspected criminals, and rescued 30 kidnapped victims in a string of coordinated operations across the country.
A top military source at Army Headquarters, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday, disclosed that the operations were conducted in the North-East, North-West, North-Central, South-West, and South-South zones.
According to the source, troops thwarted planned attacks by ISWAP and Boko Haram in Borno and Yobe States, particularly in Dikwa, Gwoza, Bama, Banki, and Gujba areas. Fifteen terrorists were killed, while others fled, abandoning rifles, ammunition, grenades, explosives, motorcycles, and communication gadgets.
In Kaduna State, a joint operation with the police and other security agencies led to the arrest of 15 suspects linked to illicit drug activities. Similarly, troops apprehended 25 suspects in Bayelsa and two in Delta over oil theft.
The source added that troops dismantled illegal crude oil bunkering sites in Imo, Rivers, and Delta States, recovering thousands of litres of stolen petroleum products. In Ogun State, a drug syndicate was intercepted with a large haul of cannabis.
He reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to sustaining national security and underscored the importance of inter-agency cooperation in tackling terrorism, kidnapping, and other forms of criminality.
“These operations are also aimed at creating safer environments to boost agricultural production, in line with the Federal Government’s food security agenda,” the source said.
