Enugu Govt Announces 3-Week Closure of Abakpa Nike Road

The Enugu State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure has announced a temporary closure of the Abakpa Nike Road at the Last Bus Stop, effective from 12 midnight on Thursday, October 2, 2025.

According to the ministry, the closure, which will last for three weeks, is to enable contractors to construct a box culvert as part of the ongoing dualization project in the area.

The Public Relations Officer of the Ministry, Ngozi Ngene, explained in a statement that the measure is necessary to ensure the project is completed effectively, safely, and within the specified timeframe.

“We understand this may cause inconvenience and seek the understanding and cooperation of residents and road users during this period,” the statement read.

To ease traffic congestion, the government has outlined alternative routes, including:
Obinagu Road, Texaco–Amurri Road–Nowas Junction–T-Junction, Liberty–Edward Nnaji Street–Ugwunwani Street–Corner Stone–T-Junction, Liberty–Edward Nnaji Street–Ogwuago–Harmony Road–Nkwo Nike Junction/Nike Lake.
The ministry appealed to Abakpa residents and the general public to bear with the state government as it works toward improving road infrastructure for the benefit of all.
