The Enugu State Government has constituted Development Centres across the state, with the appointment of administrators, secretaries and members to fill existing vacancies.
The appointments were approved by Governor Peter Mbah as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots participation in governance, promote inclusive representation and deepen community involvement in government programmes and policies.
A statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Chidiebere Onyia, said the Development Centres would provide effective channels for communities to contribute to government decisions and facilitate the coordination of grassroots development initiatives.
The appointments cover all 17 local government areas of the state, with four Development Centres constituted in each local government area.
Each centre has an administrator and secretary, alongside members drawn from communities within the respective areas.
The government said the appointments were also aimed at improving community engagement, responsiveness and the implementation of the administration’s development agenda at the grassroots.
The appointees are expected to work with relevant government institutions and stakeholders while bringing their experience and understanding of their respective communities to bear in advancing development.
Governor Mbah congratulated the appointees and charged them to justify the confidence reposed in them by serving with diligence, integrity, accountability and a strong sense of responsibility to the people.
