The Enugu State Police Command has dismantled a major armed robbery and one-chance syndicate, arresting five suspects and recovering stolen tricycles and several criminal exhibits in coordinated operations.
Those arrested by the Anti Cultism Tactical Squad include Ikechukwu Patrick (19), Odoh David (21), Izuchukwu Ogbodo (37), Charles Ekenechukwu Egwuatu (39), and Justina Dike (37).
Recovered exhibits include an imitation gun, four stolen tricycles, a scissors blade, multiple master keys, and several SIM cards.
Patrick and Odoh were first arrested on November 22, 2025, with assistance from the Neighbourhood Watch Group. An imitation gun and scissors blade were found in their possession. Both confessed to belonging to the Supreme Vikings Confraternity and said the items were intended for robbery operations.
Their statements led to the arrest of Ogbodo, from whom officers recovered six master keys and five MTN SIM cards. Odoh also admitted to stealing tricycles in Awkunanaw, Enugu, using the master keys and participating in one-chance operations targeting passengers.
Further investigations resulted in the arrest of Justina Dike and Charles Ekenechukwu Egwuatu. Justina confessed to involvement in the one-chance syndicate and to dealing in hard drugs at New Garriki, where she received stolen items, including tricycles, in exchange for drugs.
Four BAJAJ RE tricycles were recovered. Two were identified with registration numbers JRV 461 WZ and ENU 018 VG, while the other two had no visible registration marks.
The suspects will be charged in court upon completion of investigations.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, commended the operatives for their efforts and directed them to arrest all other members linked to the syndicate. He reaffirmed the Command’s dedication to ensuring safety across Enugu State during the festive period and urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperative.
