The Nigeria Police Force, Enugu State Police Command, has arrested four suspects in separate intelligence-driven operations and recovered three stolen vehicles linked to crimes in Enugu State and Anambra State.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, Daniel Ndukwe, the arrests were made during coordinated operations by different police units.
He said operatives attached to the Central Police Station, in collaboration with the Neighbourhood Watch Group, arrested a 22-year-old suspect, Teso Joseph Nsor, on February 26, 2026, at Christ Chemist Roundabout in Enugu.
The suspect, a native of Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, was apprehended at about 5:30 a.m. while attempting to escape with a stolen Toyota Hiace bus, which he reportedly started with a master key.
Police said the suspect had arrived in Enugu a day earlier without a fixed address.
The stolen vehicle was recovered and its owner identified.
Nsor was arraigned in court on February 27, 2026, and remanded in a correctional facility.
In another operation on January 31, 2026, operatives of the Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad arrested Ugwuanyi Samuel, also known as “Sammyblack,” identified as a member of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity.
He was reportedly found with a red Toyota Camry, popularly known as “Spider,” bearing a plate number linked to the National Association of Nigerian Students.
Investigations revealed that the vehicle belonged to a woman from Ogbunike in Anambra State and was snatched in June 2022 after her son was abducted at gunpoint while driving it.
The victim was later released after a ransom of five hundred thousand naira was paid, while the vehicle was repainted and taken away.
Earlier, on January 24, 2026, police operatives also arrested two suspects, Chinonso Onyibe John, also known as “Flexing,” and Nwankwor Uchenna Samuel, an ex-convict, during an intelligence-led operation in New Garriki, Awkunanaw, Enugu.
A red Toyota Matrix with registration number AAH 785 AE was recovered from the suspects.
Police said the suspects confessed to snatching the vehicle at gunpoint in Awka, Anambra State, on January 23, 2026.
They also reportedly admitted involvement in other car-snatching operations involving a Lexus RX 350 and a Toyota Highlander.
The police said investigations are ongoing to arrest other accomplices, while the remaining suspects and recovered exhibits will be handed over to the Anambra State Police Command for further investigation and prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling crime and urged residents to provide credible information to security agencies.
He also advised vehicle owners to adopt basic security measures to prevent theft.
