The Enugu State Police Command has arrested four suspected members of a notorious “one-chance” robbery syndicate operating within Abakpa-Nike and other parts of Enugu metropolis.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, disclosed this in a statement issued on January 18, 2026, in Enugu.
He said operatives of the Command’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Squad arrested the suspects on January 10, 2026, at about 9:00 a.m., while they were allegedly prowling for unsuspecting victims with a tricycle in the Abakpa-Nike area adding that the tricycle was recovered during the operation.
Those arrested were identified as Ndubuisi Achioko (62), Nnaji Okeh (55), Nwobodo Dennis (57), and Chinedu Idam (36), all residents of Abakpa-Nike, Enugu.
Police said the suspects confessed during interrogation to being members of a larger “one-chance” robbery syndicate operating from the Abakpa-Nike axis of the state.
The suspects have since been arraigned before a competent court and remanded in Correctional Custody, while police have intensified efforts to track down and arrest other fleeing members of the syndicate.
Reaffirming the Command’s resolve to combat “one-chance” robbery and other criminal activities, the Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, urged residents to remain vigilant and law-abiding.
He also called on members of the public to promptly report suspicious movements and criminal activities to the nearest police station or through established police emergency channels.
