Enugu Police Command Reviews Security Operations, Sets New Directives for Ember Months

The Enugu State Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has convened a high-level strategic conference with senior officers of the Command to assess past operations and strengthen security measures ahead of the Ember Months.

The meeting, held at the Senior Police Officers’ Mess, Agbani Road, Enugu, brought together Deputy Commissioners of Police, Assistant Commissioners of Police, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Heads of Tactical Units, and other key supervisory officers.

Addressing the gathering, CP Giwa reviewed the Command’s policing activities over the past month and issued fresh directives to enhance crime prevention and public safety during the high-security Ember Months and the approaching Yuletide season. He urged the officers to maintain a professional, proactive, and results-driven approach to policing across their areas of responsibility.

The Police Commissioner warned against lapses in supervision, stressing that senior officers would be held vicariously liable for any misconduct or negligence by their subordinates that could compromise ethical standards or public security.

He charged them to remain focused on upholding the Nigeria Police Force’s core mandates while serving the public interest.

Relaying key resolutions from the recent Strategic Police Officers’ Conference convened by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, CP Giwa reiterated the IGP’s directives on accountability, professionalism, and proactive policing.

He highlighted the IGP’s zero tolerance for the misuse of police authority in civil matters, particularly land disputes, warning that officers found culpable would face disciplinary action.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, who issued a statement after the meeting, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining peace and security across Enugu State as the year draws to a close.

He assured residents that the Command is fully prepared to tackle security challenges associated with the busy festive season.
