The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has charged officers of the command to uphold professionalism and strictly adhere to directives issued by the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu.
CP Giwa gave the directive on Monday during a strategic conference held with senior and supervisory officers of the command, where he emphasized ethical conduct and respect for the rights and dignity of citizens.
He warned that any officer found acting contrary to the directives would face disciplinary sanctions, stressing the need for officers to also sensitize their subordinates on the importance of compliance.
The police boss further tasked the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and heads of investigative units to ensure diligent handling of cases.
He specifically directed that suspects in bailable matters should be released promptly, while cases requiring prosecution must be properly managed.
In addition, Giwa instructed the Assistant Commissioner of Police overseeing the State Intelligence Department (SID) to strengthen intelligence gathering and ensure effective deployment of actionable information to enhance security operations across the state.
Area Commanders were also directed to intensify supervision of Divisional Police Officers within their jurisdictions and adopt proactive measures to prevent security breaches.
Meanwhile, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 13, Abayomi Peter Oladipo, who paid an unscheduled visit to the state, attended the conference briefly.
He commended officers for their contributions to policing successes within the zone and urged them to remain disciplined, dedicated, and professional in the discharge of their duties.
The meeting was attended by Deputy and Assistant Commissioners of Police, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, heads of tactical and operational units, as well as other sectional heads of the command.
