Enugu Police Sensitize Public on Election Offences, Road Safety

The Enugu State Police Command has intensified efforts to promote peaceful civic conduct and road safety, as part of activities marking the 2026 National Police Day celebration.

On April 1, 2026, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and the Command’s Public Relations Officer carried out coordinated sensitization campaigns across the state, focusing on election-related offences, safe driving practices, and adherence to traffic regulations.

The awareness campaigns were held simultaneously at Area Command Headquarters, motor parks, and major bus stops within various police divisions.

During the interactive sessions, members of the public, including election stakeholders and motorists, were educated on the dangers of electoral violence and the importance of maintaining discipline on the roads.

Participants were also given the opportunity to ask questions and receive clarifications from police officers.

As part of the ongoing Police Day activities, the Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, is scheduled to present cheques to families of deceased personnel of the Nigeria Police Force on April 2, 2026.

The gesture, on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, is aimed at supporting bereaved families of fallen officers.

The Commissioner of Police also expressed appreciation to residents of Enugu State for their cooperation throughout the sensitization campaigns and other Police Day activities.

He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property while respecting the rights and dignity of citizens.
