Enugu Police to begin enforcement of tinted glass permit regulations October 2

The Enugu State Police Command has announced that it will begin strict enforcement of vehicle tinted glass permit regulations across the state on Thursday, October 2, 2025.

In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, the Command stated that the exercise will be conducted in line with existing laws and directives, and will apply to all vehicles with tinted glasses, whether factory-fitted or otherwise.

The Command advised motorists who have yet to obtain the required permits to register their vehicles via the portal www.possap.gov.ng and proceed to the State Intelligence Department (SID) at the Command Headquarters, GRA, Enugu, for physical verification. Motorists unwilling to apply for the permit have been urged to remove the tints or replace factory-fitted glasses with transparent ones, in compliance with the law.

Alongside the tinted glass regulation, the Police Command said it will also enforce the existing ban on the unauthorized use of sirens, revolving lights, Police SPY and unallocated official number plates, as well as clamp down on the use of unregistered vehicles.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations to oversee the enforcement exercise.

He further instructed supervisory officers to ensure their operatives conduct the exercise with professionalism and avoid harassment or extortion of motorists. According to him, any officer found culpable will be sanctioned, while their supervising officer will be held vicariously liable.

CP Giwa appealed to motorists to cooperate with the Police and report any cases of misconduct to the Command’s Complaints Response Unit (CRU) through the following numbers: 09160002486, 07059160602, 08176155557, or via WhatsApp/SMS on 09160002486.

The enforcement exercise, according to the Command, is part of ongoing efforts to maintain public safety and ensure compliance with traffic regulations in Enugu State.
