Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has dismissed any speculation about Andrey Santos leaving the club, confirming his delight with the young midfielder’s continued presence in the squad.
According to Fabrizio Romano’s X post on Friday, Maresca emphasised Santos’ importance, stating he is thrilled to have the player remain at Stamford Bridge.
Highlighting Santos’ flexibility, Maresca noted that the midfielder can play in the roles typically filled by Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo.
“This versatility positions Santos as a key asset for Chelsea, reinforcing the manager’s decision to keep him in the team for the upcoming season.
“I’m very happy with Andrey and very happy with Andrey staying here with us.
“He can play in Enzo’s Fernandez position for sure, he can play in Moi’s Caicedo position for sure,” Maresca added.
Both teams are seeking their first win of the 2025/26 Premier League season after disappointing starts.
Chelsea drew 0-0 with Crystal Palace, while West Ham suffered a 3-0 loss to Sunderland.
Chelsea have a strong historical edge, winning 16 of the last 29 matches against West Ham, who have secured 8 wins and 5 draws.
However, West Ham have won four of their last eight home Premier League games against Chelsea
