Israel Officially Recognises Somaliland as Independent State

Israel has announced the official recognition of the Republic of Somaliland as an independent and sovereign state, marking a significant diplomatic development in the Horn of Africa.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made the announcement today, disclosing that Israel and Somaliland have signed a joint and mutual declaration formalising the recognition.

The declaration, according to Netanyahu, is in the spirit of the Abraham Accords, initiated under the administration of United States President Donald Trump, which aim to promote peace and cooperation across regions.

Netanyahu congratulated the President of the Republic of Somaliland, Dr. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdallah, commending his leadership and commitment to promoting stability and peace in the region.

He also extended an invitation to President Abdallah to pay an official visit to Israel.

In his response, the President of Somaliland described the recognition as historic and expressed appreciation for Netanyahu’s efforts in combating terrorism and advancing regional peace.

The Israeli Prime Minister acknowledged the roles played by Israel’s Foreign Minister, Gideon Sa’ar, the Head of the Mossad, David Barnea, and the intelligence agency for their contributions to the development.

He further wished the people of Somaliland success, prosperity, and freedom.

Netanyahu also revealed that Israel plans to immediately expand bilateral relations with Somaliland through extensive cooperation in key sectors, including agriculture, health, technology, and the economy, signaling a new phase of partnership between both entities.
