Peter Obi Mourns Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, Describes Him as a Pillar of Peace and Scholarship

Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general election, Peter Obi has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of renowned Islamic scholar and spiritual leader, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, describing his death as a monumental loss to Nigeria and the global Muslim community.

In a heartfelt condolence message, Obi said he joins “millions of Nigerians” in mourning the revered cleric, whom he hailed as a towering Islamic scholar, a distinguished Hafiz of the Qur’an, a man of peace, and a father figure to many across the nation.

Obi noted that Sheikh Dahiru’s transition leaves a significant void, particularly within the Tijjaniya movement, where he served as a guiding light for decades. He extended his sympathies on behalf of his family and the Obidient movement to the cleric’s immediate family, the people of Bauchi State, and followers of the Tijjaniya order.

“May Allah forgive his shortcomings, grant him Aljannah Firdaus, and give all of us the fortitude to bear this painful loss,” Obi prayed.

Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, one of Nigeria’s most respected Islamic voices, was widely revered for his scholarship, advocacy for peace, and unwavering commitment to the teachings of the Qur’an. His death has triggered widespread tributes from religious, political, and traditional leaders across the country.
