Police, Army Nab Two Robbery Suspects, Recover Stolen Tricycle in Enugu

The Enugu State Police Command has announced the arrest of two suspected armed robbers and the recovery of a stolen tricycle in a joint operation with the Nigerian Army.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe, operatives of the Command’s Crack Tactical Squad, working alongside soldiers stationed in Awgu, carried out the operation following a distress report received on March 9, 2026.

The report indicated that a male tricycle operator had been attacked and dispossessed of his vehicle by a two-man armed robbery gang along New Garriki.

The suspects allegedly used an offensive weapon during the attack before fleeing with the tricycle.

Security operatives swiftly mobilised and trailed the suspects, later identified as Ejike Emewa and Njoku Christian Chigbo, both aged 21.

The duo was subsequently apprehended, and the stolen tricycle was recovered from their possession.

The Police said the suspects would be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, commended the synergy between the Police and the Army, noting that such collaboration remains crucial in tackling crime.

He reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to sustain its operations aimed at ridding the state of criminal elements and ensuring the safety of residents.
