Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command have arrested a 30-year-old suspect and recovered a stolen tricycle just hours after it was reported missing in Enugu.
The suspect, identified by police as Ibeabuchi Ifeanyi Collins, was apprehended by officers attached to the Trans-Ekulu Division on Friday, April 18, 2026, at about 10:00 a.m.
According to a statement issued on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe, the tricycle’s custodian discovered the vehicle missing around 6:00 a.m. after parking it in front of his residence in Trans-Ekulu.
Ndukwe said officers were immediately mobilised after receiving the report, while details of the theft were circulated through the command’s control room.
The stolen tricycle was subsequently traced and recovered along Nike Road within hours of the incident.
Authorities said the suspect confessed during interrogation and attributed his actions to hardship.
Police added that he would be charged to court after the conclusion of investigations.
The Commissioner of Police, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, commended the operatives for their swift response and urged vehicle owners to adopt basic security measures to protect their property.
He also reaffirmed the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
