The Nigeria Police have commenced investigations following a report of an alleged same-sex act involving two adult males in Azugwu autonomous community, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.
According to the report made at the Inyimagu Police Station, the incident allegedly occurred on February 20, 2025, at No. 40 Unagboke Street in the community. The individuals named in the report are Mr. Ezebuilo George Emeka, 42, of Ogulogu Olo autonomous community in Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State, and Mr. Austin Uka, 46, of Unagboke village in Inyimagu autonomous community, Abakaliki.
The report was filed by Mr. Emma Nwinya, the Ezeogo of Unagboke village in Inyimagu Azugwu autonomous community, who described the alleged act as contrary to the customs and traditions of the community and in violation of Nigerian law.
Police sources confirmed that one of the suspects, Mr. Ezebuilo George Emeka, is currently at large, while efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend him.
Reacting to the development, the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. James Okagbu, condemned the alleged act and assured the public that the police would carry out a thorough investigation and take all necessary steps to ensure that those involved are brought to justice, in line with the law.
Mr. Okagbu also appealed to members of the community to remain calm and allow the police to handle the matter through due legal process.
The police said further updates would be provided as investigations progress.
