Chidoka to Deliver ESUT Distinguished Personality Lecture on Nigeria’s Political Rebirth

The Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) has announced that former Minister of Aviation, Osita Chidoka, will deliver the second edition of its Distinguished Personality Lecture Series, aimed at redefining Nigeria’s political culture for a new generation.

The lecture is scheduled for April 30, 2026, at the Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah Multi-purpose Auditorium on the university campus, with proceedings set to commence at 11:00 a.m.

In a statement issued by the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Prof. Okechukwu Oji, the university said the lecture is designed to offer fresh insights into Nigeria’s political evolution.

He noted that the theme, “Beyond Participation: Rebuilding Nigeria’s Political Culture for a New Generation,” is intended to shift public discourse from passive involvement to active, ideology-driven engagement.

Prof. Oji said the initiative seeks to stimulate intellectual dialogue capable of shaping a more responsible and vibrant political landscape.

“The topic is carefully crafted to proffer new insights into Nigeria’s political development and encourage active, vibrant participation that is ideologically driven,” he stated.

Chidoka, who is also Chancellor of the Athena Centre for Policy and Leadership, will deliver the lecture, while the session will be chaired by Prof. Aloysius-Michaels Okolie, Vice-Chancellor of ESUT.

The university noted that the lecture series forms part of its broader commitment to promoting policy-oriented discourse and contributing to national development through academic engagement.

It added that the event is open to stakeholders, scholars, students and members of the public, expressing optimism that the outcomes will help deepen democratic values and strengthen the rule of law in Nigeria.
