…As Customers in South-East Experience Power Outage
The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) has announced that it experienced a partial system collapse on Thursday, resulting in a widespread power outage across the South-East region.
In a notice issued on February 19, 2026, the company disclosed that the incident occurred at about 11:54 a.m., disrupting electricity supply to customers served by its subsidiary companies.
According to a statement by Emeka Ezeh,Group Head, Corporate Communications, the affected subsidiaries include MainPower, TransPower, FirstPower, NewEra, and EastLand, all of which currently have customers experiencing outages as a result of the system failure.
The company stated that the exact cause of the partial system collapse is yet to be ascertained.
However, it assured customers that it is on standby and awaiting restoration of supply.
EEDC apologised for the inconvenience caused by the development and appealed to its customers for understanding as efforts continue toward restoring electricity.
