Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command have arrested 15 suspects during a raid on identified criminal hotspots in the Four Corners area of Ozalla community, Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State.
According to a press release issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, the operation was carried out in the early hours of February 16, 2026, by officers attached to the Crack Tactical Squad following credible intelligence.
The police said the suspects comprise nine males and six females.
Items recovered during the operation include two polythene bags filled with dried weeds suspected to be Indian hemp. A further search of the area reportedly led to the recovery of a locally fabricated pistol loaded with one live cartridge.
The Command disclosed that the suspects are currently undergoing thorough screening.
It stated that individuals found not culpable would be released, while those found culpable would be investigated and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The Commissioner of Police, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has directed supervisory officers in charge of operations and investigations to sustain proactive crime-fighting strategies across the state.
He emphasized the need to identify and dismantle criminal hideouts, as well as ensure the arrest and prosecution of offenders.
The police boss also called on residents of Enugu State to continue supporting the Command with timely and credible information to enhance security across communities.
