MainPower discloses cause of power outage in parts of New Haven

The MainPower Electricity Distribution Limited (MEDL) has attributed the cause of power outage in parts of New Haven in Enugu metropolis to vehicular accident.

This is contained in a statement issued by Head, Communications of MEDL, Mr Emeka Ezeh, on Tuesday in Enugu.

Ezeh explained that the power outage currently being experienced was due to the accident that occurred at Chime Avenue, near Akalaka House, around midnight on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2026.

According to him, the incident resulted in the collapse of four (4) high-tension poles, thereby affecting the Chime Avenue 11kV Feeder.

“As a result, there was loss of power supply to customers/areas served by the following transformers: Mbanefo 1 & 2, Nwokocha, Lumumber 1 & 2, Nzimiro, Bassey Duke, Udenweze, St. Rest, Akalaka House and First Bank.

“Other transformers affected include Neo Court Hotel, MTN Neo Court, MTN Nnaji Park, Discovery Plaza, Gabby Estate, Discovery Suite, Food Concept, Ntachi Osa, Livinston Hospital, Tastia Restaurant, and New Haven Extension.

“Our technical team is working hard to clear the fault and restore electricity supply to the affected areas by end of today.

“We sincerely regret the inconvenience this disruption has caused our esteemed customers and appeal for their patience and understanding,” he said.

Ezeh noted that MEDL remained committed to providing safe and reliable service to its customers.
