The Outgoing Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State, Dr. Ben Nwoye, has said the party is now united and repositioned for electoral success following the completion of its state congress.
Speaking during the APC state congress in Enugu, Nwoye said the event marked the conclusion of the reconciliation and restructuring process initiated by the caretaker committee after it was constituted to stabilise the party in the state.
He noted that when the committee assumed office, the party faced internal divisions and grievances among different groups, but explained that the committee worked to rebuild trust, harmonise interests and integrate all factions.
According to him, the reconciliation efforts resulted in the unification of all splinter groups within the party, including members who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Nwoye said the committee deliberately adopted an inclusive approach that ensured new members were fully integrated into the party structure.
He attributed the success of the process to the support and leadership of Enugu State Governor, Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, describing him as a stabilising force for the party in the state.
Nwoye also praised the 17 local government chairmen in the state for their role in mobilising party members during the e-registration exercise, which he said recorded significant success.
He explained that the party had already produced over 6,000 executives across the wards, local government areas and districts through a structured process, adding that the state congress represented the final stage in completing the party’s leadership structure.
While congratulating party members, Nwoye expressed confidence that the APC in Enugu State is now positioned to win future elections, including securing the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He also urged members to maintain unity and focus, stressing that electoral victory can only be achieved through collective effort and cooperation within the party.
The state congress marked the end of the tenure of the caretaker committee and the emergence of substantive state executives to lead the party going forward.
